Alternatives for generating website traffic and Back Links
A look at alternatives to generate Website Traffic Okay, so there are a lot of techniques out there on ways to help them generate more traffic for your website or blog. Personally, I think there is too much emphasis on paid and organic search results. You know, those free results you get when you add content to your blog and then save the money could be invested in commercial outlets such as pay per click. When I say there is too much emphasis, I want to say that the focus is all about content and submission without much personal interaction.
Although it is a must to write things all the time for your site (s) and perhaps even post an article here and there is also a good idea to get local media exposure. You have dozens of radio stations, TV stations and local newspapers which may be contacted to establish a relationship with. Do not just send an e-mail as I have seen some advisers recommend. Yes, it is a good first step, but the time to write a letter! Send a color print of your blog with the letter or something that will stand out.
If you're goal is to gain more traffic for your site, then you are going to invest more of your efforts on getting links (back links) to your site by all means. With search engines now basing the results of your search query in the level density of keywords that your site / page has, and the number of back links that connects to your site, its even more important to step out of the norm and use new techniques for generating website traffic and the crucial back-links.
Each of these links from a website or blog that has a high traffic, also the search engines what they call high "authority". The more back links you can generate that kind of a site, the greater your authority on the Internet. But getting those sites to link to a certain level is sometimes an uphill battle. But, is not something that is impossible with the right amount of effort.
Here's a funny example. I once saw a movie where a coach was trying to get the NCAA to approve his team of young players (who had just suffered a tragedy) to play football as freshmen. He has asked the school principal to make a special request for permission. After a few letters and phone calls that had happened. As Dean said, "his NCAA rules do not change for anyone." That was when the coach asked him if he was married, and the Dean said "yes, why?" The coach asked the respondents as follows: "You propose to her on the phone or in person?" The Headmaster won the point, and you should too!
I'm not saying you should start going to their offices in person, but in the internet world, its ok to step outside of this environment for a minute, and try the path of bricks and mortar. A letter can change the landscape when a local news writer gets hundreds of emails every day, and then you letter is the only one who did their desks with little or no competition.
If you think that the local exposure will not help you with your efforts, or that you have a blog or article that could reach a national audience, then go to those outlets even bigger! Do not limit the examples here, and be creative. A college student, for example, may convince more people to visit their blog on campus if you simply post a flyer in their rec rooms than they could, writing ten articles in one day. That's why even the new content, takes time to get out there on the internet (the internet is as fast).
In the long run articles that will help you send with your content and organic search, but you'll LINK ahead of the game because you took the time to write some letters and make some calls. Again, going a bit 'can "highlight" your request and get your more attention needed to successfully obtain a link to your site.
Now, if you happen to visit one of them in person to request a link, at least left the house for a while 'and disconnected from the internet just the time social life "offline" a bit' .......
