Selecting a Payment Service Provider
If you start an online retail business, you may need to accept credit cards, the most widely accepted online payment. To do this, you will need to have both your merchant account or select third party payment processor. Many online retailers choose the second option because it offers convenience and ease when accepting payment from customers. If you select a provider of payment services, here are some things to keep in mind.
Registration Fees
They do not need a tune-up or registration fee? Some companies require that upfront, while others do not require it at all.
Transaction costs
Most (if not all) providers of payment services to pay a certain amount for every transaction made on your site. Usually a percentage of the total amount of the purchase, it can vary from 2% to 20% depending on the supplier.
Additional costs
Before signing with a provider, make sure they are fully aware of any additional costs that may be required to pay as the cost of chargebacks.
Global Payments
If you are service markets in foreign countries, make sure the provider accepts payment amounts of payments made in local currencies abroad. Some services only accept payments in the United States, while others accept a specific list of countries. There are also the providers without restrictions at all, so make sure you choose one that meets your needs.
Receiving Payments
Discover how the provider payment will be transfer payments - by check sent an ACH transfer, or even real-time bank transfer.
Customer Service
No doubt you're going to need a little help, once you're up and running, so find out what platforms customer service are offered by the provider. Do not offer customer service? All requests are answered promptly and within 24 hours?
Payment rate
You should consider how often the provider sends payments. Some will send it as soon as a customer makes a payment. Other weekly or even monthly payments .......
